I dont know what to think about the death penalty, i feel that its a bit barbaric and has been abolished in every first world country besides America but then again if someone close to you was raped and murdered wouldnt it be the only punishment that you would see fitting? I personally dont think it should be used..what do you think? Please let me know in the comments.
Death penality is not "a bit barbaric", it's totally barbaric.
ReplyDeleteIt must be abolished in every side of the world. No one should have the right to decide the life or the death of someone.
It's a totally barbaric act. Honestly life in prison is bad enough. When people fight violence with violence then it's just more suffering. Besides sometimes you just can't prove someone killed another, and it would be a crime against humanity to execute a human being who was innocent.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with the death penalty completely. Until the justice system is completely able to determine someone's guilt (hint: it isn't and probably never will be), the margin for error is much too great and the consequences for such an error are just the slightest bit severe. And even if they ever can determine someone's guilt with 100% accuracy, it's still a grey area - is it right to take someone's life? Prison should be enough of a punishment, no?
ReplyDeleteI disagree as well.. Whatever's the crime he commited no man deserves death. The best punishment is penalty at reformatory centers were the accused will understand their unethical action and pay for it eternally in prison.
ReplyDeleteI'd kill 'em myself, wouldn't want the state to take that from me.
ReplyDeleteI don't think of the penalty as barbaric and I don't think of taking a life as the penultimate crime, but I do think the death penalty shouldn't be around any more.
Think about this man. Crime is a horrible thing and it's something that we should do our best to prevent whenever it's possible to prevent. Therefore, the death penalty is necessary. If the highest deterrent possible is death and people still commit horrible crimes then we've done the best we can to eliminate crime and need to deal with the people who still ignore this adequately. Full guilt should undoubtedly be proven before giving out the death penalty though.
ReplyDeleteA) In California the death penalty has cost nearly two hundred million more than permanent incarceration would have (4 billion dollars since 1978).
ReplyDeleteB) Of the 92 convicts who have died on California's Death Row, only 13 were executed. The rest committed suicide or died of other causes.
C) "Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."
I'm against it, but if you don't want to be killed, don't do stupid things.
ReplyDeletedeath penalty is a HUGE deal and it has to be very studied so you can make a correct argument, as everyone speak his "thoughts" without having read a single case, i don't take this debates seriously, unless im with lawyers!
ReplyDeletefunny tip, talk with someone who is against death penalty, ask him about abortion, that person will support abortion but not death penalty
To many inoccent people go to jail. To many get the death penilty. I'm against the death penalty for that reason only.
ReplyDeleteIf someone was caught on film killing some inocent person and then confessed and bragged about it, yeah they should die.
But we live in an imperfect world where cops try to catch crooks to have a higher percentage "catch rate" so they can look good for a promotion.
have to do a frikkin debate in french on this subject for 30 minutes. I wanna die. Give me death penalty!
ReplyDeleteI'm not hugely against death penalty, but I'm against it, it's not right.
ReplyDeleteA big no. Even discussing it is immoral for me. We are not Gods and we have no right to take anyone's life, especially since there were a number of cases in which it was proved that a person sentenced to death and killed was innocent.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan... but then again I suppose I can understand the logic of someone who has had something terrible done to them wishing death upon another person.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about death penalty, is that some % of the time you are killing a guy that's innocent. That should be enough reason to abolish it.
ReplyDeleteLet's put it this way, I'd rather die than live in a cage the rest of my life.
ReplyDelete"I'd rather live on my feet than die on my knees!"
Come visit my blog sometime!
Our justice system is imperfect because it's a man made system. That means there are bound to be errors, sometimes resulting in unjust executions. As long as there's the chance we could be killing an innocent person, I don't believe it is worth it to be killing anyone in the name of justice.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares what I think. The Death Penalty is obviously a bad idea in the event the defendant is innocent but the fact that it remains just goes to show. Some governments could care less and would prefer to leave it in place regardless of the fact that it doesn't create any deterrent (or it would have an effect on crime rates)
ReplyDeletekillers are most of the time suffering from psychosis or emotionally disturbed so the law must not be that blind. Such people if sentenced to death should have another chance of assessment in this regard.
ReplyDeleteOther than that tit for tat is the best remedy.
agreed death penalty should be abolished. We are teaching that killing is wrong by killing somebody.
ReplyDeleteI'm against the death penalty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with death penalty. Those who take the lives of others should be prepared to die as well.
ReplyDeleteOne major argument I've heard against the death penalty is that it costs more money to kill a person than to keep them in jail... Not sure why that would be though. I should go look that up.
ReplyDeletewhat if the guy is really innocent? that's my biggest concern.
ReplyDeletebut what if the guy would prefer the death penalty? should someone have the right to choose?
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'd have to say it depends. Personally, I don't approve of the death penalty because I feel like there could be worse punishments than death.
ReplyDeleteWhat if it worked like this? If they prove beyond a doubt through evidence, like a video of you committing this horrible crime and can prove it was you, you should get some horrible punishment that's not death...maybe some form of intense torture. But I mean, this is only for people like serial killers and reaaaaally bad people. And maybe not torture in the sense of pain, but maybe something like, they have to be completely alone for an entire life sentence in one cell forever.
And then the people who they can't clearly prove, but have proven by what the evidence says should get a maximum sentence of life in prison, and depending on the crime, they may never ever have a chance to get out. The only reason would be if someone else was actually found guilty of the crime. I dunno, that's just random thinking though haha.
Nice blog, following =D
This is something you could probably argue about for quite some time. On the one hand, there are times when people feel that this is the only punishment, but I've lived long enough and seen enough to know that there are many fates worse than death. Hell there are times when I think I would rather die than face some punishments out there. Not to mention that by killing a killer, all you've done is contributed to the levels of senseless killings and lowered yourself to their level. It's all well and good to hide behind the banner of justice, but you still killed a guy. You don't get punished though. Not everyone can and will accept that there are fates worse than death though, and if anything, I see the death penalty existing for a long time, maybe even making a comeback, not being totally abolished.
ReplyDeleteI'm for death penalty, but it should be painless, like with some needle or something, not in electric chair or by hanging
ReplyDeleteI'm for it. There are some people in this world that society would be better off without.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the death penalty... some criminals deserve it.
ReplyDeleteMurder is murder, institutionalized or not.
ReplyDeleteif it is well worth
ReplyDeletebut do not have all the worst would be closed
Some people deserve to die. But after being tortured. An eye for an eye.
ReplyDeleteI'm for it in every way, not because of revenge or anything, just that if they get the death penalty they did something to equally deserve it. "you reap what you sow" as they say.
ReplyDeleteDOOOO ETTTTT
ReplyDeletewill be following... i see interesting subjects..
ReplyDeleteThe thing with death penalty is that if you somehow get any information that shows that the perpetrator actually was innocent, it's kind of hard to bring them back from the dead.
ReplyDeleteNo, give them to Dexter
ReplyDeleteWell I'm pretty sure that they won't punish someone with death unless they have enough concrete evidence and they are sure.
ReplyDeletePhrozen, you haven't been watching the news lately, have you? We just executed a man with virtually no evidence against him. Even if there is evidence, it isn't always 100%, and that very well means the state could be killing an innocent person.
ReplyDeletedeath penalty not cool totally not cool ...
ReplyDeleteDeath penalty makes sense, I don't like it myself though. Mainly because assholes like Rick Perry are the ones who can and can't pardon that shit. and well....Rick Perry just like to have a high kill count on his record :(
